According to Ivonne Higuero, secretary general of Cites, this is the most important global meeting on the protection of wild fauna and flora, and this edition will take place at a time of planetary crisis, pollution problems, climate change and loss of biodiversity.
Delegates to the forum will debate 52 proposals from States to amend Appendix I and II of the Convention on trade rules for sharks, reptiles, turtles and other wildlife species that are endangered or pose health risks.
