Prime Minister considers peace decisive for Ethiopia’s development

Prime Minister considers peace decisive for Ethiopia’s development

Addis Ababa, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, said that peace in each regional state is essential to promote economic growth and social evolution of the country.

Under this precept, the government’s recent agreement with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front to restore constitutional order and stability in northern areas is very important, he told the House of Peoples’ Representatives (Parliament).

It is impossible, he said, ‘to achieve the nation’s development goals while we remain in the vicious circle of war’.

Only the warmongers are dissatisfied with the peace program initiated after the dialogue in Pretoria (South Africa) under the guidance of the African Union.

Peace lovers are in majority and we want to see the best fruits of the negotiation soon, he said.

He also urged to support the ongoing inclusive dialogue process to achieve consensus on major issues of national interest, according to the notification of the House Communication Directorate.

Ahmed appeared on Tuesday at the fourth ordinary session of the legislative body and, after referring to the peace agreement and giving an overview of his tenure, addressed other domestic issues.
