Libertad newspaper, La Verdad magazine and Ecos del 56 TV radio station, all from Costa Rica, supported the world champion in Tashkent as the best male athlete in the Prensa Latina poll.

Voting for the best team also showed unanimity in the Costa Rican media, since all three chose the Cuban canoeing duo -made up of Yarisleidis Cirilo and Katherin Nuevo, first place in the canoe (C-2) at 200 meters in the World Championship in Canada.

As to women’s voting, the first two media opted for the Venezuelan triple jumper Yulimar Rojas, also world champion; while Ecos del 56 TV chose the Brazilian swimmer Ana Marcela Cunha, gold medalist in five and 25 kilometers of open water in the World Championship in Budapest.
