Paraguay reports increase in chikungunya and dengue patients

Paraguay reports increase in chikungunya and dengue patients

Asuncion, Nov 18 (Prensa Latina) Paraguayan healthcare authorities on Friday warned about an increase in Chikungunya patients this year, with 190 cases, and dengue, with 188, both diseases that proliferate at any time of the year.

Specialists also detected 1,460 suspected cases of dengue and 384 of chikungunya in the epidemiological period elapsed in 2022, a report on arbovirosis from the Health Surveillance Directorate added.

The risk of contracting vector-borne diseases in Paraguay is latent all year round, as dengue, considered endemic in the country since 2009, and Chikungunya, first described in Tanzania in 1952, have proliferated since 2015, as well as Zika.
