Nearly half of the country’s nuclear reactors are shut down for scheduled maintenance or due to known or suspected corrosion problems, bringing the power generation forecast for this winter down to a historic low between 275 and 285 terawatt hours.
For this reason, RTE considered that the activation of the Ecowatt system, and in particular the red alert signal, appears ‘high in January but will depend largely on weather conditions and the possible occurrence of even a moderate cold spell’.
This critical signal from the Ecowatt system is the one that warns of possible selective power outages and, according to the same report, these interruptions seem ‘unlikely’ in late November, while there is an ‘intermediate’ risk for early December.
