The investigation into the event dismissed the theory that it was caused by an explosive device, the newspaper El Comercio reported.
The daily quoted the police and the local fire department as saying that the explosion was caused by an accumulation of gases and grease in the upper part of the food premises.
At least two people were injured and the terminal was severely damaged in the food establishments of the facility in Babahoyo, a town located 350 kilometers south of Quito.
Doubts about whether it was an act of provocation have arisen due to the wave of latent violence in the country, which at the beginning of November was affected by a series of attacks in the coastal provinces perpetrated by criminal gangs associated with drug trafficking, according to the Government.
