A military statement specified that there are also troops from the United States in the maneuvers, and from other nations acting as observers, such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan and Morocco.

The drills are part of the strategy to exchange experiences and promote military cooperation, the statement said.

The Egyptian army, considered one of the strongest and most prepared in the region, participated last year in 41 military exercises along with units from other countries; 29 of the said exercises were carried out on national territory, according to official information.
