In his morning press conference today in Colima, the president reminded that the reform proposes that the councilors should not be elected by the parties but by the people so that this organism is not kidnapped by the creed interests that support the parties.
He also proposes to reduce the financing of the parties with this reform, which is exaggerated.
Another good thing is that instead of 500 deputies, only 300 elected by the people should be allowed and to eliminate the election lists of the 200 that should be designated by the parties -which put in their friends and relatives-, and it costs a lot to maintain this useless apparatus.
Another aspect is the fact that there are 32 electoral bodies in the country, one for each state, plus the central one, the INE, and only one, the main one, is proposed.
He denounced the right wing’s lying propaganda that the government wants to eliminate the INE, another fallacy because what is proposed is to improve it with these reforms, but it happens that there are middle class sectors that are very easy to manipulate and deceive.
That is why in the demonstration they came out with signs saying ‘INE is not to be touched’ despite all the evidence of corruption and its history of fraud over so many years.
This shows us, he admitted, that more time must be devoted to explaining to those who have prejudices, but it is difficult they move away from them, he said.
A single INE and a single Electoral Court is what the reform proposes because there are very large, excessive expenses, the highest in the world for an election and it lends itself to all kinds of corruption, he insisted, because the same apparatus that the national one has, is also found in every local state.
