According to the National Seismological Center of the University of Chile, the epicenter of the earthquake was located east of Talca city at a depth of 83 kilometers.
The tremor was also felt in the regions of Valparaiso, O’Higgins, Ñuble, and Metropolitana, where the capital is located.
The Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy reported that the characteristics of the earthquake do not meet the conditions to generate a tsunami on the Chilean coast.
It was the second earthquake on Wednesday after a 4.0-magnitude tremor was reported north of Melipilla city, in the Metropolitana Region.
