In a message to the nation, the president spoke about the investment of 202 million dollars made up to now to that end and said that over 3,700 houses were of social interest and were fully subsidized by the State.

Lasso added that the Government granted 4,600 credits with a preferential interest rate of 4.99 percent to be paid in a term of up to 25 years to facilitate access to housing.

He mentioned that Ecuador has joined the UN SDG Cities initiative, which proposes to build habitable buildings under the Sustainable Development Goals.

On May 24, 2022, in his message to the nation in Parliament, the president offered 450,000 housing units during his term in office.

Given the current figures, there are doubts as to whether it will be possible to reach that total considering the progress made and the low-budget execution.

On Tuesday night, the National Assembly approved a report on the use of State funds during the first half of the year and determined that the investment is three times lower than in 2021; precisely the sector with the lowest execution is urban development and housing.
