Doctors in Dom. Rep. announced strike for next Wednesday

Santo Domingo, Nov 24 (Prensa Latina) The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) reportedly announced a medical strike throughout the country for next Wednesday against the Health Risk Administrators for public and private health facilities.

The stoppage will coincide with a march that the union will hold in this capital from the CMD headquarters to the National Congress.

The CMD president, Senen Caba, told the press that during the 24-hour work stoppage, only emergencies and critical patients will be cared for.

He also said that in the aforementioned activities ‘we will demand a new law based on rights, which does not privilege commercial aspects over human suffering and seeks decent health and pensions’.

He said that they declared November 30 as National Commitment Day, for a social security free of the current model, which he described as a swindle.

Caba reiterated that the process of withdrawing from ARS Universal and the suspension of services to ARS Mapfre at national level, as well as to Monumental, in the northern region of the country, to Renacer in the south and to Sigma in the east, remains firm.
