Lopez Obrador accuses Mexican Court of protecting tax crimes

Mexico, Nov 25 (Prensa Latina) Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Friday accused the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice (SCJN) of protecting white-collar crime by not considering tax fraud a criminal offense.

At his morning press conference at the National Palace, the president denounced most rulings by the SCJN even though there is evidence that this crime of fraud and tax evasion has cost the country over 4.5 trillion pesos (225 billion dollars) through ghost companies and apocryphal invoices, in the last years, before the current administration.

Lopez Obrador claimed that the SCJN ministers protect tax evaders, and regardless of what they say they protect those at the top, the powerful, and the white-collar criminals, and Thursday was a bad day for the Judicial Power because it was a shame that the law is enforced for the benefit of those who have money and do illegal business.

It is an example of the impunity enjoyed by those criminals who harm the Public Treasury so much, by defrauding the people as there is less income for social programs and the development of the country.

People already know this and that it is necessary to carry on the transformation to end centuries of factious behavior of institutions at the service of minorities such as the SCJN.
