The presidential spokesman told the Sputnik news agency that it is in Moscow’s interest that the two neighboring South Caucasus States sign a peace agreement that would end decades of fighting.
However, Peskov continued, there are no plans for a meeting of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian in Russia in the near future.
On Friday, Aliyev stated that a meeting with Pashinian, scheduled for December 7, will not be held, as he is against the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron, on which Armenia insists.
Violent armed clashes were reported on several sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in mid-September last year, leaving more than 200 dead and hundreds injured on both sides.
