The objective of increasing the economy at a rate of five in the medium term, during the next five to seven years, does not depend only on the Government, but also on the private sector doubling its investment, she told a large group of businessmen.
At the meeting, Mottley called on nationals to move from one billion US dollars to two thousand and, on the other hand, to boost foreign direct investment in the region.
She said that the way to move forward for the country is related to encouraging more major global companies to establish their headquarters in Barbados.
We must be prepared, through the combined attraction in quality of life, taxes, investment confidence, access to the rule of law, to have at least five major global or regional headquarters here in the next three years, she said.
The prime minister noted that this would allow for the creation of more opportunities for Barbadians in other types of high value-added work and, at the same time, increase the number.
