Cubans in Democratic Korea visit permanent state exhibition of gifts

Pyongyang, Nov 30 (Prensa Latina) A representation of the Cuban Embassy in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) visited the permanent exhibition of gifts on the occasion of the anniversary of Cuba's Revolutionary Armed Forces, local media reported on Wednesday.

The group, led by Cuban Ambassador Jesus Aise Sotolongo, paid tribute to President Kim Il-sung and leader Kim Jong-il in front of their statues, and later they learned about the gifts exhibited as North Korea’s heritage, KCNA reported.

On December 2, Cuba’s Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) will celebrate its 66th anniversary, with the goal of defending the country’s sovereignty, peace, and security.

The military institution has its origins in the union of the Rebel Army, which headed by Fidel Castro led the people to the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959, and the National Revolutionary Militias, established a few months later by workers, peasants, students, and university students.

In addition to preparing for a military response to aggression, the Revolutionary Armed Forces have a structure that allows participation in activities for the country’s socioeconomic development and environmental protection, according to its website.
