Panama City, Nov 30 (Prensa Latina) Panama registered 6,435 new cases of Covid-19 in the last epidemiological week and accumulates 1,200,161 cases since the disease was detected in March 2020. According to the latest report of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), from November 20 to 26, seven deaths were reported for a total of 8,526 deaths in a little more than two years of this disease.

The press release states that to date, six patients remain hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 158 in the ward, while 7,590 remain isolated in their homes.

A total of 985,881 people have overcome the disease and the country is going through a sixth wave of the pandemic, the Minsa indicated.

On its part, the Expanded Program of Immunization highlighted that since January 2021, 8,679,625 doses of vaccines have been applied.

The head of the Ministry of health, Luis Francisco Sucre, told the press that for next month the arrival of some 72,000 doses from Pfizer pharmaceutical Company is expected and called on the population to give priority to vaccination against the disease.

He also reminded that it is vital not to lower our guard and to maintain the obligatory use of masks in crowded places, hospitals, public transport and for food handlers.
