According to Xinhua news agency, the pieces were buried in a village in Jianhu district and lay exactly inside a shallow well.
The treasure includes large quantities of bronze coins connected in series with straw ropes, carefully layered and flattened inside.
Most are from the Song dynasty era. ‘The uncovered pieces are well preserved and most of them have clear inscriptions, which will be useful for further study,’ the media outlet specified.
The explorers also found 70 wells near the discovery site, which is believed to have been the battlefront of Song and Jin dynasty troops.
