RTL Nieuw reported that both nuclear power plants would be built in Borsele, in Zeeland province (southwest).
Borsele has been chosen because the only operational nuclear power plant in the country, which began operations in the 1970s, is located there.
Minister for Climate and Energy Policy Rob Jetten met with authorities of Zeeland province and the private sector. The talks focused on financial matters, among other topics.
The decision of building two nuclear power plants could be approved at a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Friday and would be part of the plans to tackle European energy issues.
