The water crisis that affects the world due to the increase in temperatures and the reduction in fresh water levels is worsened by the Israeli occupation, which prevents Palestinians from using their natural resources, the media informed.

Due to the theft of water resources,Israel consumes six times more than Palestine, Wafa News emphasized.

The agency also stressed that the crisis is not limited to the scarcity of water, but also to the high rate of its contamination.

According to authorities, more than 97 percent of water pumped from the coastal basin does not meet World Health Organization standards.

A recent report from the Jerusalem Institute of Applied Research highlighted the situation in the Palestinian territories regarding water and sanitation as catastrophic due to continuous Israeli violations. As an example, it recalled that Israel declared “military zone”.the land next to the Jordan River, which prevents Palestinians from using its waters.

Earlier this year, the Water Authority of the area, where more than two million Palestinians live, warned of the reduction of the strip’s only aquifer, which supplies water to over 1,800,000 Palestinians.
