Cuban president attends St. Vincent parliamentary session

Kingstown, Dec 5 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Monday attended a special session of the Parliament of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, where he paid an official visit.

The president arrived in Kingstown on Saturday and in the afternoon he talked with Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves about the Caribbean and Latin American position in view of Cuba’s exclusion from the last Summit of the Americas, in the United States, among other issues.

During the meeting, the Diaz-Canel expressed gratitude for the region’s support for Cuba’s resolution against the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade, submitted every year to the United Nations General Assembly, and for supporting his country at the most acute moments of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Diaz-Canel, those facts demonstrate bilateral relationships above formality, serious, deep and brotherly, and described his visit as a way to honor the foundation of that bond, from the friendship between Gonsalves and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

The head of State ratified the will to consolidate ties with the region and pointed out among the multiple actions of joint cooperation in the sectors of tourism, food production, human resources training, infrastructure and construction, health care, and medications.

For his part, Gonsalves described the visit as symbolic because it cements the ties between peoples and governments and international solidarity, confirms the willingness to move forward on certain issues of mutual interest and ratifies the historic support given by Cuba.
