Hungary is against the modification of the financial legislation, the minister said at a meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council, held in Brussels.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban had previously noted that Hungary does not support the European Union (EU)’s plan to grant Ukraine an 18-billion-euro aid package next year.
Orban explained that they do not agree with this proposal because they do not want the EU to become a community of debtor States instead of a community of cooperating ones.
Instead, the prime minister urged all EU members to allocate funds of their budgets to assist Ukraine through bilateral agreements.
Previously, it was reported that the Hungarian Government had decided to allocate 187 million euros to take part in the financial aid to Ukraine.
The political director of the Prime Minister’s Office, Balazs Orban, said that these funds will not be allotted from the national budget as part of a EU single plan for a new aid package to Ukraine.
