Aid agencies condemn ongoing violence in Upper Nile State

Juba, Dec 7 (Prensa Latina) Humanitarian community on Wednesday have strongly condemned the violence that has displaced over 9,000 people in Fashoda County of South Sudan´s Upper Nile State.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in South Sudan said in a statement these people fled the Fashoda county, where raped women, kidnappings and crimes were also reported.

In view of the situation, OCHA considered the ongoing violence in Fashoda has an impact on local residents´ lives.

South Sudan President Salva Kiir has recently called for the end of clashes between Upper Nile communities and neighboring territories including Jonglei and Unity.

OCHA announced past September that it is planning to deliver resources such as food, water and hygiene products to about 21,000 vulnerable people in Upper Nile.
