At his closing speech, he said that the Japanese government would like to delve into this type of discussions to send a firm message in favor of disarmament within the framework of the G7 Summit next year, which will be presided over by this Asian country.
This two-day event was attended by Japanese and foreign experts and intellectuals, who discussed the objective causes that hinder the much-needed drive to abolish the threat posed by nuclear weapons, the Japanese press reported.
The debate included the testimony of a survivor of the terrible explosions in August, 1945, who was eight years old when the United States dropped the ‘Little boy’ and ‘Fat man’ on Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively.
Several world political leaders such as German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, UN Secretary General António Guterres and former US President Barack Obama sent messages to the Council to support gradual nuclear disarmament.
