Reports from public television, the Jornal de Angola and the Angop news agency highlighted the visit to Washington, in light of the proposals seeking to enhance the presence of US companies in Africa, a traditional source of mineral resources and other raw materials.
Convened from December 13th to the 15 th,the summit will take place against the backdrop of the current scenario of geopolitical disputes and tensions, as well as the expressed desire for a ‘true partnership’ with the continent, according to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a tour in Africa.
According to an Angop dispatch dated in Washington, the Angolan head of state is scheduled to meet with the administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power.
Next Wednesday, the program includes a business forum, in which the president of Senegal and president of the African Union, Macky Sall, are also expected to attend.
Lourenço will speak on Thursday at the summit, which will bring together about 50 African politicians, and will have audiences with various figures from the US administration, Angop detailed.
