Syria and Iran call for cooperation to face common challenges

Damascus, Dec 12 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal al-Mekdad, and Iranian Vice Foreign Minister Ali Reza Bekdli expressed their willingness to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields so as to face common challenges.

According to a press release from the Syrian Foreign Ministry, the talks during the meeting held in Damascus focused on developing ties in front of pressures and blackmails exerted by Western countries.

They condemned the sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union on Damascus and Tehran, and considered that the people are the first affected.

The Syrian Foreign Minister ratified the firm position in supporting the Islamic Republic and considered that the recent riots he witnessed are incited and supoprted by Western powers and Israel directed to undermine Iran’s stability, fuel sedition and to weaken support to the axis of the resistance.

“Damascus relies on the wisdom and courage of the Iranian people and their leadership in overcoming this Western plot. Iran will win just as Syria did in its war against terrorism,” the foreign minister said.

In turn, the Iranian vice foreign minister thanked Syrian solidarity and pointed out the high level of regular consultation between the two countries.

“It is necessary to continue strengthening strategic bilateral ties in various fields so as to tackle attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Damascus and Tehran,” the Iranian diplomat said.
