Yulimar Rojas and Alison dos Santos lead Prensa Latina Survey

Havana, Dec 13 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan triple jumper Yulimar Rojas and Brazilian hurdler Alison dos Santos on Tuesday got more votes in the traditional Prensa Latina sports survey and thus are leading their respective categories.

Jit, a publication from the Sports Institute of Cuba (INDER) chose these two athletes due to their extraordinary victories in 2022, and also selected the Cuban Baseball5 team, world champion, as the Best Team of the Year.

That publication selected Rojas as Best Female Athlete taking into account her tremendous season during which she won the gold medal at the outdoor athletics championships in Eugene, the United States, and the indoor championships in Belgrade.

At the latter, Yulimar Rojas set a world record after jumping 15.74 meters, thus crushing her previous mark of 15.67 meters, set at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

For his part, Dos Santos was chosen as Best Male Athlete for winning the 400-meter hurdle race in Eugene, where he broke the South American record, the first in world championships, by clocking 46.29 seconds.

Therefore, Rojas has gotten 12 votes in the Prensa Latina survey, whereas Alison dos Santos has been voted seven times.

The voting will be open until December 22, and the results will be revealed a day later.

The votes from media outlets – radio, television and written press (not personal ones) – can be sent to the following e-mail: deportes@prensa-latina.cu.
