Russian man convicted for offering classified information to Ukraine

Moscow, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) A Russian court sentenced an individual to 12 and a half years in prison who tried to sell confidential information on transport infrastructure to the Ukrainian intelligence, the Federal Security Service (FSB) reported on Thursday.

The man, which the FSB identifies as Mamukov V.V. without specifying his full name or occupation, is a resident of the city of Khabarovsk in eastern Russia.

According to the FSB, the accused used his access to classified information to anonymously provide the Ukrainian secret service, via Internet, with data that could be used to the detriment of Russia’s security, particularly for acts of sabotage.

This action, subsequent to the launch of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, earned him a criminal file for high treason.

A court found Mamukov V.V. guilty of the crime under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code (high treason) and sentenced him to 12 and a half years in prison in a penitentiary regime center, the communique stated.
