Some 259 Venezuelans return home from Peru

Caracas, Dec 16 (Prensa Latina) A new group of 259 people returned to Venezuela from Peru as part of the Return to the Homeland Plan, the People's Foreign Affairs Ministry reported on Friday.

The deputy minister for Latin America and the Caribbean, Rander Peña, welcomed the Venezuelans who arrived at the international airport of Maiquetía, La Guaira state, on behalf of President Nicolas Maduro and Foreign Minister Carlos Faria.

The group is composed of 67 children, 21 teenagers, 78 young people, 69 adults, and 11 senior citizens, according to the source.

The reunion with their families during this Christmas period was made possible by the Government policy promoted by President Maduro, which through Conviasa Airlines, allows them to ‘return to the homeland’ to build the country they want, the diplomat said.

Since its creation in 2018, the Return to the Homeland Plan has provided the possibility of a dignified restart, free of xenophobia, labor exploitation and discrimination, in their homeland, to more than 30,000 Venezuelans coming from 25 countries, the Foreign Ministry informed.
