Syrian army thwarts terror attack in Idlib province

Damascus, Dec 19 (Prensa Latina) Syrian soldiers repelled an attack by terrorist groups, the second in less than a week, against military positions in the vicinity of the town of Arbikh, in the northeast of the province of Idlib.

According to military sources, the attackers took advantage of the dense fog and tried to advance and attack the positions of the Armed Forces.

The sources added that the clash that broke out lasted over an hour and ended with the elimination of three radicals, while others were wounded, while the rest fled to the town of Taftanaz where Turkish troops are deployed.

The army also bombed other terrorist groups with artillery and destroyed four positions and an armored vehicle..

Radical groups entrenched in Idlib commit constant violations of the regime of de-escalation zones, ruling in the said province.

The national army managed to liberate 56 percent of Idlib back in 2020, but the jihadists are still in control of the rest of the territory, where they hold hundreds of thousands of civilians as human shields.
