Dmitri Medvedev delivers Putin’s message to Xi Jinping

Moscow, Dec 21 (Prensa Latina) The Vice President of the Russian Security Council and former president, Dmitri Medvedev, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, to whom he delivered a message from President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin press office reported.

According to the office, in his letter, Putin highlighted the high level of political and economic dialogues between Moscow and Beijing, and expressed confidence in the progressive development of bilateral relations.

During the exchange, Xi and Medvedev spoke of the convergence on important issues on the international agenda, as well as the necessary interaction in organizations such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The former Russian president discussed with the Chinese leader other topics such as the strategic cooperation of China and Russia in the areas of finance and economy, where they stressed the importance of the energy and transport spheres.

Medvedev and Xi Jinping also talked about exchange issues between the United Russia ruling party and the Communist Party of China, and the future increase in cooperation between both political institutions.

The meeting marked the first direct exchange between the leaders of the two parties since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic.
