‘The FSB, in cooperation with the Investigative Committee and the Federal Service for Financial Supervision, eliminated the terrorist community in the Urals and North Caucasus districts, where the organizer and 18 members created an extensive interregional support network with resources from the international terrorist organization ISIS,’ the press release stated.
According to the FSB and the Investigative Committee, the group followed instructions from ISIS and with the help of other citizens transported militants from Russia to the territories of Syria and Ukraine to conduct military operations against the Russian Armed Forces, as well as to finance terrorism and justify such activities. ‘Two members of that terrorist community were sentenced by courts to lenthy prison terms. Investigations and raids are continuing in order to cleanse the Russian territory of terrorist threats,’ the FSB reported.
According to the investigations, arrests were made in Dagestan, Chechnya and Tyumen region.
During raids of the places of residence of the accused, communication equipment, payment instruments and personal computers were seized, in which photographic and video materials with incriminating evidence were found.
