Mexico reports 30000 cases in one week due to sixth wave of Covid-19

Mexico City, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) The Mexican Health Secretariat reported over 30000 cases of Covid-19 in one week due to the sixth wave of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease.

In its daily morning report, the entity said that, despite the increase in infections due to the December holidays, hospital occupancy has increased very little and is only at 7% to treat serious infections. However, the number of deaths is relatively high, as 167 deaths were reported in the last seven days.

The weekly technical report closed yesterday indicates that Mexico now accumulates 7,252,944 positive cases since February 2020, and 331,197 deaths since March of that year.

The Minister explained that at least 84% of the population in Mexico has a vaccine against Covid-19, an aspect it describes as positive since inoculation favors the reduction of mortality and serious cases.
