In a radio interview, Mujica stressed Sunday’s coup attempt was conducted by blind militants, whom he described as cannon fodder used by powers that sought to “generate chaos that would bring the Armed Forces to take to the streets”.

Mujica added the insurrection was not spontaneous at all. It was something planned and orchestrated by the workforce that can be led by “Brasilia´s powerful and wealthy people”.
