Cuban province of Matanzas encourages charcoal exports

Matanzas, Cuba, Jan 9 (Prensa Latina) Encouraging the production of charcoal in order to achieve greater exports is a fundamental objective of the Cuban province of Matanzas.

At the forefront of charcoal exports in the territory, the Forestry Business Unit (UEB) of the municipality of Unión de Reyes promotes the search for better yields through policies aimed at the development of a responsible environmental culture.

The UEB, located near kilometer 104 on the national highway and covering more than 24,000 hectares of forest, is currently working on the rational use of all existing natural resources and the exploitation of the areas, according to www.radio26.cu.

The director of the company Yoel Salgado said that in spite of the electronenergetic effects of the year 2022, the entity obtained good results; however, an increase in production is expected this year, which will favor exports and economic growth for the country’s benefit.

Salgado commented that countries such as Spain and Turkey are the nations that annually demand higher productions of charcoal produced in the UEB, although at world level there are several countries that request the product as evidence of its quality.

Charcoal represents one of the most significant exportable items in Cuba thanks to a quality that allows multiple uses of it as fuel both in industry and at home as well as being used in the gastronomic sector for the distinctive flavor it brings to food.
