Cuba, Canada to strengthen trade and investment relations

Havana, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Josefina Vidal on Wednesday said her country and Canada will continue to strengthen bilateral trade and investment relations.

On her Twitter profile, Ms. Vidal reported on a fruitful meeting with the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CanComCorp) Vice President Diane Montambault who were paying an official visit to Cuba.

Trade relations between the two nations have been uninterrupted for over 100 years, being Cuba considered Canada’s largest export market in Central America and the Caribbean.

According to Canadian ambassador in Havana Geoff Gartshore, such a bilateral collaboration expands to separate sectors including mining, health, food, energy, tourism, agriculture, trade and culture, among others.

Mr. Gartshore added Canada is also Cuba´s second-foreign direct investment source and major emitter of tourists, so there is much willingness on both sides to continue exploring new horizons.

The Canadian diplomat referred to his country´s support to Canadian firms to keep on holding commercial relations, this is why Canada always votes against U.S. blockade.
