The senior officials of the Gustavo Petro government attend the Security Council session, in which the head of the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia, Carlos Ruiz, will present his quarterly report, which recognizes the steps for peace of the new Executive.
In addition to this space, they will fulfill a diplomatic agenda, which has as its main purpose promoting fundamental issues for the Government’s goals such as total peace, climate, racial justice and gender issues.
The agenda of the vice president and the Foreign Minister includes, among other high-level meetings, a meeting with the president of the UN General Assembly, Csaba Kőrösi; and also with the secretary general of the United Nations, António Guterres.
It will be the first time that the vice president will address the full Security Council and she will be accompanied by the Foreign Minister and Colombia’s ambassador to the UN, Leonor Zalabata.
France Marquez will also meet with representatives of several African and Caribbean nations to strengthen relations with Africa and the Diaspora.
At the end of the presentation of the quarterly report of the Verification Mission on the implementation of the Final Agreement that will take place this afternoon, both officials will deliver a balance of the session to the media.
