Russian troops continue military offensive in Donetsk

Moscow, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) Russian assault and airborne units continued their military offensive north of the city of Artyomovsk and the Sol railway station, in Donetsk, according to the Russian Defense Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov.

Over 80 Ukrainian soldiers, two tanks, three armored fighting vehicles and three vehicles were eliminated during combat operations, the spokesman stated.

In the Krasny Liman area, artillery fire and air strikes hit the 66th and 92nd Mechanized Brigades units and the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Konashenkov stated.

Plus, the artillery and airborne troops repulsed the the 71st Ukrainian Fighter Brigade´s attack, causing more than 115 casualties, as well as destroying three armored vehicles and three pickup trucks, the military spokesman said.

Meanwhile, in the southern part of Donetsk, artillery and rifle troops -alongside the Marines of the Pacific Fleet- attacked enemy positions, causing the death of 50 Ukrainian soldiers and the loss of four military transport vehicles, Konashenkov added.

At the same time, aviation and artillery hit the 14th and 92nd Mechanized Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kupiansk region.

Konashenkov also reported that the Russian troops targeted the Ukrainian military administration system and related energy facilities with missiles, and all the designated targets were hit.
