One million people in Madrid without primary care doctors

Madrid, Jan 17 (Prensa Latina) The strike committee of Primary Care doctors announced today that more than one million people do not have a doctor assigned to them at the moment in the Madrid community, among them 200,000 children.

The announcement was published on Tuesday by the digital newspaper El Boletin, which also refers to the failure of negotiations with the Regional Health Ministry and demands that the Madrid Executive, headed by Isabel Diaz Ayuso, act once and for all.

Among the demands of the doctors is to limit the work overload in order to provide adequate care and to increase remuneration to prevent doctors from moving to other regions that are more competitive from the salary point of view.

In this regard, the strike committee denounces that since November 2021 about 250 pediatricians have left for other locations with better contracts.

Meanwhile, adds El Boletin, family doctors and pediatricians will again demonstrate in the streets of Madrid this Wednesday morning to warn that the end of Primary Care is near if no real decisions are taken to prevent it.
