Mexico and US agreed on labor and child mobility

Mexico City, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) Mexico and the United States reached an agreement on two debated issues on labor mobility and protection of children in that situation, the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Wednesday.

Although they are memorandums of understanding, both documents resulted in the agreements between Presidents Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Joe Biden in the framework of the 10th North American Leaders’ Summit and seek more orderly, safe, regular and human migration flows in the region, the Foreign Secretariat stated.

The Foreign Secretariat clarified that the governments of both nations share the vision of an orderly, safe, regular, and more human migration.

The Memorandum of Understanding on Labor Mobility aims to strengthen the labor rights of Mexican workers in the United States.

In this instrument, the governments of both parties commit to consolidating joint efforts to ensure the ethical hiring of Mexican non-immigrant workers with H2 visas, collaborate to protect their wages and working conditions, and facilitate the availability of temporary agricultural labor from this country.
