Argentina: Celac will address the concerns of the peoples

Buenos Aires, Jan 21 (Prensa Latina) The VII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) will address concerns of our peoples, the Argentine coordinator of that organization, Gustavo Martínez, said.

In declarations to the radio station “La 990”, Gustavo, who is also undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country pointed out that during the meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, ‘people’s issues will be analyzed, among them, gender equality, climate change and the situation of workers’.

He also indicated that delegations from the 33 member states of this integration mechanism have confirmed their participation.

He also specified that it will be a summit marked by the interest in strengthening dialogue with the European and African Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, China and India.

We want to show a very united Celac internally and very open to the rest of the world, he said.

The day before, the spokesperson of the Argentine Presidency, Gabriela Cerruti, pointed out that the event generates great interest throughout the region and will include debates on economic integration and the challenge of guaranteeing that Latin America be a zone of peace and democracy.

In this sense, she warned about the consequences of the extreme right-wing policies applied in some countries and stated that the recent coup attempt in Brazil and the situation in Peru will be analyzed.
