In a communiqué, the Ccciap recalled that the legislative bill has not been debated at the National Assembly (parliament) since April 2021, and urged an open and frank discussion.

The group, which brings together more than 150 private sector companies, said in its message that Panama has been contributing steadily in the fight against money laundering, and praised the study and evaluation of any initiative that helps to reduce this scourge both nationally and internationally.

In this respect, it called for an integral discussion of the proposal presented by the Minister of Security, Juan Manuel Pino, on behalf of the Government, with the participation of all the actors.

For Ccciap, it is a matter of having a consensus document in accordance with the Constitution, which complies with the objective of combating the activities derived from organized crime in all its manifestations.
