Maduro recalled Fidel Castro’s speech in Venezuela in 1959

Caracas, Jan 23 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro recalled Fidel Castro's speech on January 23, 1959 in Caracas, on the 64th anniversary of that event that forever marked the unity between their peoples.

The head of State said in that exchange of admiration and solidarity, another page was written in the history of an unbreakable brotherhood.

The Bolivarian leader recalled the memorable and historic speech at the Plaza de El Silencio. In that speech before thousands of Venezuelans cheering for Cuba and Venezuela, the Cuban commander called for ‘ever closer ties between peoples, and that is why I have come to Venezuela, to bring a message from one people to another’.

Maduro expressed that Fidel was a hero for the peoples of America, and the first place he came to was Venezuela, after the triumph of the Revolution, to thank the support of this country to the Cuban Revolution, and to put down roots of union towards the future.

‘Fidel was loved by the people of Venezuela and he loved Venezuela’, and in the speech of January 23 in the Plaza O’Leary (El Silencio) in 1959, he spoke as a prophet, he made the premonition of the role that Venezuela would play in the future, he emphasized.
