Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discuss common border

Tashkent, Jan 23 (Prensa Latina) Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan resumed negotiations to solve pending border issues after a pause of over three years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported. As highlighted by the entity on its official website, the working groups of the commission for the delimitation of the border line between the two nations met in the city of Bukhara.

The delegations discussed the preparations for future meetings and arranged draft agreements on legal and technical standards on the demarcation of the common border, as well as the schedule of future meetings.

The dividing line between the two nations, once part of the former Soviet Union, covers 1,650 kilometers, of which there are 10 sections that were excluded from the agreements signed in 2000.

This process was resumed on March 2017, but stopped three years later, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
