According to the portal Brasil de Fato, with the new list of dismissals, there are now at least 90 dismissals of members of the Armed Forces with positions related to the Planalto Palace, seat of the Executive Power. Among them, 38 acted in the so-called Institutional Security Cabinet.
The total number of exonerations made in the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, therefore, is close to half of the total number of military personnel who were in commissioned positions in the Planalto last year (43%).
The exonerations promoted by Lula began immediately in the first days of government, but increased after January 8, when radical Bolsonaro supporters promoted a coup attack, advancing on the security forces and invading the headquarters of the National Congress, the Federal Supreme Court and the Planalto palace.
The head of state removed from office, on Saturday, General Julio Cesar de Arruda, commander of the Army, amid purges for the coup attempt.
