Cuba expresses condolences on the death of Gambian Vice President

Havana, Jan 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Vice Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas signed the book of condolences here today at the Gambian embassy for the death of Vice President Badara Alieu Joof.

Cabrisas conveyed the most heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Cuban people and Government to the African nation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its website.

He was accompanied by director of Sub-Saharan Africa at the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Luis Alberto Amorós, who expressed his regret for the event.

Badara Alieu Joof passed away on January 18 in a hospital in New Delhi, the capital of India, where he was hospitalized.

The Gambian Vice President took office in 2022 and previously served as Minister of Education.

Cuba and Gambia established diplomatic relations in 1979 and for more than three decades have maintained cooperation in the health sector, either with the presence of medical brigades from the Caribbean island or the training of Gambian professionals.
