UN High Commissioner for Human Rights begins visit to Colombia

Bogotá, Jan 24 (Prensa Latina) The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, will begin an official visit to Colombia, where he is expected to meet with the country's authorities and social leaders.

Volker Türk will arrive from Ecuador where he held a meeting with President Guillermo Lasso, indigenous leaders, civil society representatives, among others.

After his activities, the high commissioner will give statements to the press and media outlets on Wednesday afternoon.

The Austrian lawyer served as Assistant Secretary General for Policies in the Executive Office of the UN General Secretary from 2021 to 2022, and on October 17th, 2022, he assumed his current position, replacing Michelle Bachelet.
