The legacy and intellectual work of the most universal Cuban, and the analysis of how his legacy continues guiding those who fight for the principles of emancipation and equality among human beings were among the issues outlined at an event held at the Cuban Embassy in Moscow.
Vice Consul Nelson Fleitas highlighted the value of resorting to Marti’s work and studying what happened in the past to ethically interact with the experiences that the Apostle of Cuba’s independence bequeathed for the present and the future.
This homage to Marti has to be permanent, said the diplomat, adding that his presence brings with it an anti-imperialist influence, which endures to this day.
Fleitas recognized the importance for the new generations to keep Marti’s presence alive as a weapon in the political struggles imposed on Cuba by the United States.
A representation of more than 200 Cuban students in Russian universities exalted Marti’s vocation in the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016), and the continuity of his ideology, in times when Cuba is fighting an arduous battle against Washington’s unilateral sanctions.
The students stressed the importance of studying Marti’s ideology in order to recognize through facts how the policy implemented US authorities of considering Latin America their backyard is opposed to the expressions of liberty of the National Hero, based on solidarity and cooperation among the nations of the continent.
For his part, the president of the Association of Cubans Resident in Russia, Jesus Gonzalez, reiterated the organization’s common commitment to paying tribute to the patriot and recalled his historic dimension.
