Antananarivo, Jan 30 (Prensa Latina) Only today, 11 days after its deadly passage, the Malagasy authorities were able to assess the magnitude of the trail of deaths and material damages caused by the tropical storm that hit this country.

At least 24 people have been killed, 21 are missing and tens of thousands remain homeless by raging downpours and winds from Cyclone Cheneso that devastated the west coast of this African Indian Ocean island country 10 days ago, according to the official report.

The violence of the merciless downpours caused great floods; The destructive effects of the storm extended to the Malagasy south, including damage to roads, which isolated the region from the rest of the country, homes and schools, according to the official report.

The calculations of the experts of the Specialized Regional Meteorological Center of the island put the speed of the winds of Cheneso at between 108 and 166 kilometers per hour, which broke into Madagascar on the 19th.
