Negotiations with Russia on these issues are ongoing, since Russia is considered as one of the world´s major gas producers. It is our largest source of gas, Donmez said.

We intend to create something like a supermarket for gas and we created this commercial platform in which our own rules will be applied, Donmez stated.

All will have to comply with international standards, but producers and buyers will have to gain space in that market.

Donmez also explained the trading system in the proposed center will be free, and manufacturers from Eurasia, Asia and other regions will be represented in it.

Speaking at the Russian Energy Week Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed the idea of creating a gas center on Turkish territory, where the lost volume of transit could be redirected through the Nord Stream.
