FBI to search ex-US VP Pence’s home, office for classified records

Washington, Feb 2 (Prensa Latina) The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is expected to search former Vice President Mike Pence´s house in Indiana and office in Washington for additional classified materials soon.

According to CNN, Pence’s representatives have been in talks with the Justice Department over the searches and have expressed that they want to completely cooperate.

CNN reported last month that earlier in January, a lawyer for Pence found about a dozen documents marked as classified at the former vice president’s home. The former vice president had directed his lawyer, Matt Morgan, who has experience handling classified material, to conduct the search.

According to media reports, among materials found were information memos for Pence’s foreign trips, which may contain biographical information about leaders of other nations or more sensitive data.

One person who received details noted there was nothing particularly unusual about the reports and placed the classification markings at the “bottom level.”

On Wednesday, FBI concluded a search of President Joe Biden’s Rehoboth Beach house without finding classified files related to his past term as Vice President under Barack Obama´s administration (2009-2017).

Earlier, FBI searched a Penn Biden Center´s office and Biden´s Wilmington house in Delaware, in search of classified material.

The National Archives and Records Administration asked former presidents and vice presidents of the last six administrations to review their records for classified reports that may still be in their possession.
